In 14 hours of flying time, we covered approximately 2000 air miles in a Bearhawk. Starting in some scud out of Austin, Texas and ending with beautiful weather in Arlington, WA.

Team 11 consisted of Gordon, Jim(Rambler), Dennise, Ginger(Planecrazy). As Team 11 (No Melvins) worked the 46 mile section of the Continental Divide Trail from Cuba, NM to the Skull Bridge they saw various sites and beautiful scenery. These photos are just a few of the hundreds of photos taken but are a great cross section starting from the Circle A Ranch and ending at the bridge. They range from last minute preparations, meandering streams, snow, bouncing hail, the flora, rainbows, angry skies, and a few other things in-between.

In May 2007, Ginger and Rich left the tractor behind and ventured out across the big pond. It was a whirlwind trip but their hosts. . .Nick & Amanda of Aeroplane Monthly Magazine made it worth while. Although we took over 1200 photos, we've tried to narrow it down to just a few that you might enjoy that covers the entire gamut of the trip . . . This LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is an amphibious vessel designed to land battle-ready tanks, troops and supplies directly onto enemy shores. Ships of this type proved to be enormously useful during times of war and peace both. This particular LST was originally known as LST-325 during the Second World War, USNS LST-325 during its arctic operations in the 1950's, and later L-144 (A/G Syros) while it was in the service of the Greek Navy. It was acquired by The USS LST Ship Memorial, Inc., in 2000, and caught considerable public attention when our veteran crew brought it on a 6,500-mile journey from the Greek island of Crete to Mobile, Alabama. http://www.lstmemorial.org/

Although the weather could have been a little more cooperative, the final counts show that we brought over 600 people to the area with 150 aircraft representing visitors from 4 continents, 7 countries, and nearly every state. The aviation media showed up in droves to cover the event, the people that make it special, and their aircraft. These photos represent not only the event but the many hours of preparation before and after as well as the the people that were involved. Thanks to the many photographers that supplied us with photos.

The Reverse Barn Raising at Lee Bottom Flying Field.

In June 2006, several planes converged on Lee Bottom Flying Field as they started a yearly voyage to find new and exciting places. This group is almost like a secret society as you hear very little about them but they have been doing these trips since the mid 1970's. Apparently, it is alot of unorganized, organized fun! Although the weather was bad on their original arrival date, a few die hards made it here for some Ice Cream and a trip into town for the famous Shipley Burgers. The rest of the crowd arrived the next day for a short visit before leaving for the next destination.

Philip just purchased this cub and Floyd is teaching him to fly. They are from the Indianapolis area.

Len Buckel visits Lee Bottom Flying Field on his return trip from Sentimental Journey in Lockhaven, PA. This trip can take him 80 hours round trip but he's made it 10 times.

In May 2005, the Central Indiana Soaring Society visited Lee Bottom for a weekend of soaring and gliding fun. Many records were set that weekend . . . The group had so much fun they came back the following year and also included the soaring group from Bardstown, Kentucky.

In Dec 2004, the area saw a record snow fall. In less than 24 hours, over 30 inches of snow fell at Lee Bottom. It was also mixed with a little freezing rain and lots of wind. It created some lovely snow photos of the airport but the photos of the collapsed hangar will make you sick. In the hangar was Ginger's clipped wing cub and the Aeronca champ that Rich, his brother, and his father all used to learn to fly in.

T-6 Owner's usually meet every spring in Seymour, Indiana. Sometimes, they plan outings to nearby airports. In 2003, they ventured over to Lee Bottom Flying Field for lunch.
