My first skiing of the season was at Red Lodge in January. After that, I set out with Rory for a week of skiing, first in Big Sky, then in Salt Lake City. Great fun! Now I have to buckle down on my fellowship projects for March, but at least I got outside . . .

Thanksgiving Week

Happy Thanksgiving! Mom and Dad came up from Oklahoma. When they left, it was 80F. This Thanksgiving morning at Chico Hot Springs, it is -6F! At Chico we had dinner in the dining room, soaked in the hot springs (no pictures--too steamy in the cold!), and took a day trip to Yellowstone, where we saw 3 separate wolves up close. Oh yeah--there was the Thanksgiving food at Chico as well!

For my second week of the faculty development fellowship, I went on the road with Rory to Seattle. The autumn foliage in western Montana was spectacular. The day before the fellowship, we went to Snoqualmie Falls, the Seattle Aquarium and the Pike Street Market.

ABFM Exam Week in Salt Lake City

To make taking boards less painful, I decided to take them in Salt Lake City. Rory and I drove through Yellowstone and the Tetons to get to SLC, then spent several days with Amrapali and Mark. After I took the exam, we hiked in the Wasatch Mountains at Alta, then hiked up to and toured Timpanogos Cave. On the way back to Billings, we toured the Mesa Falls Scenic Bypass and climbed up to Yellowstone's Monument Geyser Basin.

After Julie returned to Oklahoma, we stayed on in West Yellowstone and Cody. We hiked the Gneiss Creek Trail, had steaks at Cody's Proud Cut Saloon, visited the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, and had a bluegrass breakfast in Molt, Montana.
